We hope this list of frequently asked questions provides the answers you seek! Feel free to contact us with additional inquiries. Also, upon joining a chapter, be sure to check your "Other" FB email inbox because the welcome committee will send you a New Member Welcome Message which answers these questions, and more to ensure you know how the club works.
Q: I am a beginner runner and am nervous about attending. Do I need to meet a certain skill level before I come to a workout?
A: A significant portion of our membership includes beginner runners. We run for a set amount of time, not distance, and we only ask that everyone tries their best! We offer a variety of beginner programs, including Couch to 5K, at most of our chapters. Please contact your chapter coordinator for more information.
Q: Is it okay to come without a stroller? Can I bring my older children?
A: We welcome virtually all individuals associated with the military, whether they have children, young children, older children, or no children at all. As long as they do not mind some “noise” at the workout we don’t mind either! Older children on bikes or scooters are always welcome too, don't forget their helmets. Safety is important!
Q: I do not have a military I.D. Is it still okay that I join the club?
A: We strive to be inclusive and accept civilian membership on a case-to-case basis but it will be their responsibility to find a way to access locations on the military installation, either by gaining a pass or catching a ride.
Q: I do not have a jogging stroller. Is that okay?
A: We do not require equipment of any kind. However, a 3-wheeled jogging stroller is strongly recommended. Regular strollers
with 4 small rubber wheels are not designed to be pushed at higher speeds. Not only is it a safety issue, it will also make a running workout much more difficult. Jogger strollers are designed with larger wheels for safety and ease of speed. We can help accommodate your child in an open slot in someone’s jogging stroller until you locate one of your own. Just post your call for help on your chapter Facebook page!
Q: I work full time and cannot attend weekly workouts. Can I still be a member?
A: Absolutely! We do a variety of events on the weekends, Saturday long runs, road races, fundraisers, and Warriors night out. We also encourage membership to use the wall to communicate and share resources.
Q: I do not have a Facebook account. Can I still participate?
A: We do not require a Facebook profile to join our club. However it is difficult to be fully active without an account because all events, documents, photos, and general resources are disseminated through Facebook. If you are not a member of Facebook, we have two suggestions to still participate:
1) Create a virtually empty profile page just to access our chapter page.
2) Ask a friend for information on events.
Q: Can I bring my spouse to a workout?
A: Definitely! We love for husbands or wives, visiting guests and family members, or interested friends to attend workouts with registered members.
Q: Is there a calendar somewhere that will tell me details about upcoming workouts?
A: Standard workouts are held weekday mornings, subject to individual chapter needs. All workouts and events are organized through invitations under our “Events” tab on your chapter Facebook page. Each event invite includes the time, date, location, directions, event details, and a point of contact with a phone number. (Be sure to click "See All" on the invite to view all details.) We typically send out most workout invitations 1 full week prior. You can also locate our upcoming events through the weekly "Pinned Post" at the top of each chapter page.
