Established in 1997, The Coffee Oasis is a faith-based, non-profit organization that offers the community an opportunity to gather at local cafés, drink delicious coffee selections, and provide youth with the housing and resources needed to thrive. The Coffee Oasis continues to be a source of hope and opportunity for youth between 13 and 25 years old. 100% of the cafes’ proceeds directly support the Coffee Oasis youth programs.
In the local area around Lewis-McChord, hundreds of Pierce County youths are living on the streets, finding a different couch to sleep on each night, or living in temporary shelters. Many of these youth battle depression, isolation, addiction, and trauma. In August of 2019, The Coffee Oasis opened the Tacoma Shelter, the first 24/7 emergency underage youth shelter in Pierce County. The Tacoma Shelter offers youth 13-17 years old a safe and encouraging place to live while they work towards sustainable housing and employment.
Our Warriors at Lewis-McChord arranged a month-long donation drive to collect necessary items--toiletries, laundry supplies, clothing items, and gift cards. Members also purchased items from the Amazon wish-list provided by the organization.
Thank you, Stroller Warriors Lewis-McChord, for your dedication to the community and for organizing a heartfelt community outreach event that will have a large impact on the youth in the local community.
