Wow, right?! As the founder of this “beast,” I still reflect back on that first workout when there were 3 attendees! And now…THIS! Thank you so much for your part in making it successful. We wouldn’t be where we are without every single Warrior.
Obviously our club activities have evolved over time, as accommodating 3 runners is far different from 8,000! But for the most part, our mission has remained the same.
First and foremost, we’re a running club, so we always aim to enable our members and followers to reach their running and racing goals. Whether you’re a new runner or an experienced racer, we’re here to help you reach the next milestone! The inspiration and drive for improvement that is gained from being exposed to other motivated runners is unparalleled. We also hope to inspire you to step outside your comfort zone, perhaps attempting your first race, triathlon, relay, or monthly mileage goal. We are passionate about fitness and the benefits running provides. We want to help our members and followers to build a memorable and positive running journey as well!
Another substantial part of our mission is to provide a supportive network for military families. Military families endure unique challenges and are often far away from their relatives. Stroller Warriors provides that tight family unit that can be there for you no matter what comes your way. Whether you could use a hot meal after having a baby, need assistance with childcare so you can run a workout, or just need a listening ear during a difficult deployment, Stroller Warriors friends are there to help. We are a village and we strive to make sue that everyone in that village is thriving!
For all these reasons, Stroller Warriors has grown by the thousands in just 5 years. Our goal is to not only maintain, but to improve on how we nurture our members during steep growth. We also want to reach out to those who are not able to be members, but still benefit from this kind of organization as alumni, followers, and supporters.
On that note, we bring you the new Stroller Warriors blog!
We actually started a blog several years ago at http://strollerwarriors.blogspot.com/. I personally love writing and often post write-ups on my home chapter page at Camp Lejeune. Other leadership and members do the same. Now that we’ve trained and added additional staff, we have the resources to refresh the blog and bring you an additional Stroller Warriors resource.
We have a few specific goals for this blog. We aim to bond our worldwide team, provide motivation and inspiration, share resources and ideas, and always HAVE FUN! The blog will revolve around a couple different categories and themes to meet our goals, including but not limited to:
(1) Member Spot Lights, to honor our members and volunteers and highlight their contributions to the club.
(2) Special Projects, to feature what the chapters are doing and also to assist in promoting their causes.
(3) Member success stories and what Stroller Warriors means to them, to get to know our members on a more personal level and share the real stuff, both happy outcomes and heartbreaking challenges.
(4) Race recaps, to highlight fun race stories and provide race reviews and lessons learned.
(5) Running DIY, to feature fun craft, sewing, and art projects related to running!
Your new blog manager Kelly M has been with the club since almost day one as one of my first loyal assistants at Camp Lejeune. She founded Stroller Warriors Okinawa, now volunteers with Stroller Warrior Monterey, and accepted a promotion to our headquarters leadership team last year! She loves working on a global scale to accommodate our 8,000 military spouses worldwide. Be sure to read the sidebar to learn more about her and all our blog authors. Angel P will be working closely as her assistant, another Camp Lejeune alum and current Monterey workout leader. These awesome Mother runners are going to keep you engaged and coming back for more! We are so grateful for their efforts and hope you enjoy the benefits.
Our goal is to publish a blog twice a month and we will always advertise the updates on our Facebook page www.facebook.com/StrollerWarriors. Please share the blogs on your own pages and help us spread the word about our mission!
Thank you for reading! And once again, thank you for your continued support of our mission. We may be 8,000 strong but a big number alone cannot capture the incredible extent of what SWs is. This blog will provide a means to put this beautiful team into words, and that’s speaks volumes more than even what a number can portray. Much love to you all, and HAPPY RUNNING.
Your founder and CEO
